Unix Printing Question

We use various flavours of Unix, Solaris, Icl. When setting up printers on here they do not print out as they should. I am adding them manually and via jetadmin. Printer I have with me at the moment is an HP laserjet 1200.
When I add a number of lines to the testprint, it misses out the second line and does not wrap around when it should, like on the screen.

Advice please....

What are the CR/LF settings on your printer? Is it 'stepping' like this:

aaa
bbb
ccc

Settings on the printer are as default. There is no display on the HP LJ 1200 to change them.
On screen I have :-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaa

The print out will have the first line and the 3rd
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbb
