I'm real new to Unix, so bear with stupid questions. Can anyone tell me how I can get AIX 4.2 files over to NT 4.0 Server. Can I do it from the NT Server and transfer the files over? I've heard of tools out there. Are there some good ones I should purchase.

Also, is there a way to get the files from the AIX server to a 98 workstation?

Thanks so much

More than likely, your AIX box is running a FTP server, so you could FTP the files to/from your windows systems from the windows command prompt.

Be sure to ftp the files in [ASC]II mode to correctly convert CR/LF.

Bill.

Are there tools on the market to load for NT/98 so that we could transfer files through explorer?

im a bit confused. are you referring to UNIX "emulator"?

if you are - you can have an emulator at your MS Windows 98/NT/2K to access your UNIX box. Products such as hummingbird, facetwin/term, etc.

you can set up this S/W to map ur UNIX box.

You can try the [red]very insecure[/red] url from your Internet Explorer:
[tt]
ftp://YOURUSER:YOURPASSWORD@your.aix.ip.address/
[/tt]
To browse graphically your AIX server files.
I hope it works...
Unix was made by and for smart people.
