Need to find out which brand name and model are support the following Unix platform:
HP-UX 11.i, Sun Solaris Ver 8 and 9, FreeBSD 4.6 or Redhat 4.5 client. and also
which ISP such as AOL, Earthlink, Netzero or any other ISP able to connect use any
of the Unix platform show about? If not is any other solution such as go thru NT, or
Win 2000 server then network thru Unix ? thank you!!

All ISPs use PPP for providing network access, so any of the *nix platforms can be used. The one notable exception is that Netzero uses a non-standard password encryption that you would need to emulate to get the *nix PPP to work.

As far as modems are concerned, any V.24 compliant external modem will work for all of them. If you use any type of internal modem, you are on your own. For Linux, any hardware controller-based modem will work, and many WinModem (controllerless modems) will work. Go to to see which ones may work for you. Controller-based internal modems are EXPENSIVE, and few are even manufactured any more. Most PCI modems are controller-less.
