If I were to install say SUN Solaris v2.6 onto a Compaq 6000 Proliant series server that can use upto 4 Xeon processors, but intially only had 2 installed, then at a later date decided to add another 2 processors to increase the servers processing ability, do you have to reinstall UNIX from the begining.

I know that you have to re-install NT server v4.0 if you went from 2 to 4 CPU's.

Anyone know ?

no, you just need to reconfigure the machine ... :
touch /.reconfigure
(or is it touch /reconfigure, i can never remember :)

should just work straight away, after a reboot.
