Here at our IS shop, I commented that I got a notebook for my son for college and that it comes with XP Home. This machine will be going out to USC shortly and connect with USC's ResNet network available in all dorm rooms.
So my boss says that another programmer here had the same situation with his son, and that XP Home would not network if there were 10 or more nodes, and that his university was selling XP Pro upgrades for this purpose.
I called USC and they never heard of this, and have students hooking up with XP home all the time.
I searched this forum and the Microsoft XP knowledge base with no hits.
Anybody ever hear of this "10 nodes or more" dilemma with XP home?

i believe this is what you were reffering too. this is also a pretty good read: however I have had no problem with xp@home connecting to my domain etc. along with 75 xppro, 22 win2kpro and a few win98/me boxes. just use the domain name for the worgroup name in that enviornment. Oh Yeah, heres one more easy fix. a registry fix to allow more then 10 concurrent conections exists here: "this is not a hack, it is a fix"
