Unity Voicemail Poser ! 1

Hi Guys,

We have had a request, albeit a strange one.

One of the plants onsite want to use the voicemail to give updates to teamleaders using the voicemail system.

Fine we thought, extend the greeting, let him record the greeting each shift handover ( or when needed ) , the teamleaders can dial the extension and listen to the message.

Set it up so that no messages can be left and hangs up at the end of the greeting.

They now want it secure!!! is there anyway of setting something up so that a password is required to access it.

We dont want them to leave messages and people dial in and listen to the messages, as we have found they dont delete the messages, and can record upto 50 messages in a 24hr period.

Any suggestions would be greatfully recieved

We are using Cisco Unity 4 build 4.0(5)

 
Here's what I would do:
Change the mailbox Call Transfer to No (send directly to subscriber's greeting)
Check the box for Do not play the "Wait while....
Next, give the mailbox a random extension number (can be anything you like).
Now have the teamleaders call into the main pilot number and dial the random number you used above or "password" of the mailbox. Unity will transfer them directly into the mailbox (not involving your PBX) and play the greeting. If you need to change the "password", simply change the extension of the mailbox.

Also, make sure the mailbox is not configured to be listed in the phone directory. That way people can't use the dial by name directory to find it.

Because you are transferring from the pilot number and not involving the PBX, the mailbox number isn't limited to your dial plan. If they want a different password, you only have to update the Unity.
