Unity public distribution lists 1

Hello all,

Does anyone know if you can leave a message for all of your voicemail subscibers using a unity public distribution list. I want to be able to create a voicemail message and send it out to all of the unity voicmail subscibers at once.

Is this possible?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

you can do this in Unity under Public Distribution Lists and add profiles or members.

Users can also create their own Personal Distribution Lists right on their phone.
I can post the instuctions if you need them.

word of caution please, this can spike your cpu and make your Unity server lag and unreponsive when a large number of users try to get that vm.

Thank you. I was wondering about whether or not the unity would get hung up with all the users listening to the voicemail message at the same time. If you can post the instructions that would be great!

Distribution list and private list:


1. Build a Distribution list on the Unity server using the Public Distribution List Builder in the Unity tools.

2. Go back into Unity/Subscribers, find the subscriber you wish to give rights to then Features and check boxes “Subscriber can send broadcast messages to subscribers on multiple servers” and “Subscriber can update broadcast messages stored on this server”

3. Go into Public Distribution list in Unity and click find.

4. Choose the distribution list you created on the Unity server using the Public Distribution list Builder

5. Change the Owner to you wish to let create distribution list and also set an extension,

6. Go to Subscribers and under the subscriber you want to be able to send Broadcast messages click “Caller Input” and change an unused key to “Send caller to Broadcast Message Administrator”

7. Subscriber will log into Voice mail and press the key that is assigned to “Send caller to Broadcast Message Administrator”

8. Press “2” to send a message then enter the extension of the Public Distribution List that was set in step 5.

9. Follow the prompts to record/send, add to ect.



To make a private list:

Log into your voice mail

Press 4 for setup options

Press 2 for message settings

Press 4 to edit private lists

Press 2 to change or add names in your private list

Follow the remaining prompts to record a name for your private list or add/delete names



To send a message to your private list

Log into your voice mail

Press 2 to send a message and press the number you have assigned the private list to. There will be a slight pause until you hear the name you recorded for your private list.

Following the remaining prompts to record your message and send it
