Unity op sys flashes after login

I have a customer with a Unity 3.1(5) server (2000, exchange 2000) They had alot of spyware on the system which has corrupted files on the system. I can get to Unity through a web browser however can't make any changes (act like it changes but goes back after you leave screen and re-enter) You get the login screen fine but when you log in the screen flashes. This also happens in safe mode?? IE active desktop? The user does not have smartnet so I can't try an upgrade (Cisco recommendation)

Sounds like you will need to back it up and reinstall the OS and Unity.

Go to microsoft.com and download spyware and scan the server. If you have an antivir scan the server. Try that before reinstalling the software, unless you are sure that the files in the registries are corrupted.

I wouldn't even bother. The OS needs to be reliable. Voice mail, at least in my company, is not something that isnegotiable. It has to be up. If it was my desktop, I would scan it before trying to rebuild it. But since it a server and a voicemail server at that, I would want to know and ensure its reliability. Especially if my reputation is riding on it.
