Hello

I have a couple device profiles that do nothing but forward to off-net users.. I'd like those users to be notified when a new voice message is left for them in their Unity inbox. I've been messing with the "Text Pager 1" option in "Message Notifications" in Unity, but I'm unable to get any smtp messages to go where their suppose to..

I do see this on my Unity server when it's suppose to send an email to my smtp server: (this is in the event log)

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeMTA
Event Category: X.400 Service
Event ID: 290
Date: 12/8/2003
Time: 1:12:40 PM
User: N/A
Computer: UNITY
Description:
A non-delivery report (reason code unable-to-transfer and diagnostic code unrecognised-OR-name) is being generated for message C=US;A= ;P=MY DOMAIN;L=UNITY-031208191240Z-14199. It was originally destined for C=US;A= ;P=MY DOMAIN;O=Unity;DDA:SMTP=scott(a)MY DOMAIN.com; (recipient number 1), and was to be redirected to . [MTA DISP:RESULT 20 136] (12)

I tryed searching for this via google and cisco's website, but haven't had any luck. Is there a place in Unity Admin that I have to specify the SMTP server address I want it to use for smtp delivery? If so, I can't find it..

I'm hoping that I don't need a license for VMI or something in that area.. idk..

any advice = appreciated!

No, that message was server produced, it wasn't one of my own..

The domain of the email address is the domain that I have in house. The server that does my smtp rx/tx is on a different ip scope, but I'm able to ping it by IP and DNS at the Unity server..

I replaced the "MY DOMAINS" to keep my actual domain name out of there..

My origial question is: Is there a place in Unity to specify the default SMTP server? Or does it find it via the domain name itself.. with that x.400 error, it's like something on Unity isn't configured..

to follow up.....make sure the Unity server is configured for a DNS server and have DNS running with an entry for the domain you are sending to. Make sure MX records are configured.
