All,
I've got 2 Unity 10.x servers in a cluster on VMWare. My Unity subscriber went kaboom last Friday, and I rebuilt it; fortunately it seems to be working OK now. We had snapshots of both servers on our SAN, but Cisco backed away from using them because they don't support snapshots for recovery. Crap - there went my recovery strategy.
The Cisco TAC told me that I should use either COBRAS or DRT. Based on the press time that DRT gets, Cisco "really likes" DRT because its a full backup. Looks like COBRAS only backs up call handlers, subscribers, etc. and is only meant for partial backups.
Given that, my assumption is that I should use DRT for backups, but I think there's room for both methods. I'd like the opinion of experienced Unity admins out there:
- Should I use both, or just one?
- Daily or weekly backups?
- Any "gotchas" to think about?
Any help, insight or hard-won knowledge is appreciated.
