Good day all. I'm try to get an auto attendant set up on a voice mail box. I want to have it dial an outside number on option "1"
(9-XXX-XXXX) and a 4-digit extension on option "2". Using Send caller to "alternate contact number" I can get it to work but both options 1 and 2 will dial the last number I entered in and cannot have a seperate number for each option.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Frank.

Unfortunately you can only have one alternate contact number per mailbox. In a situation like yours, I create a second Call Handler that I would point an option to (using attempted transfer, not send to greeting). And then under this second Call Handler, go into Call Transfer and specify "Yes, ring to this extension" with the outside number. Make sure the schedule is configured for 24/7, otherwise you may end up not transferring the calls during certain times of the day.

However, if the 4 digit extension you wish to transfer to already has a mailbox, don't use the alternate contact number, but the "Send caller to subscriber" option and select their mailbox. That way it will transfer the caller to whatever extension that person has setup with their mailbox while leaving the alternate contact number available for use on the external number.

Thanks much. Very helpful! Regarding your reply which in part was.....................................

While playing with this earlier I couldn't get the phone to ring, the caller went right into the 4 digit extensions mailbox. Is there a way to get the phone to ring before going to v-mail?
Thanks again!!

There are a couple of causes of this. First, bring up the mailbox of the person you are trying to transfer to. Under their Call Transfer, make sure it says to "Yes, ring this extension" and the schedule (under Profile settings) is set to "All Hours - All Days". Otherwise it could go to the Closed transfer which defaults to sending directly to the greeting. Next, go back to the Call Handler or mailbox that you are trying to transfer from. When you select the subscriber mailbox to transfer to, there's an option called "Conversation". Make sure you select "Attempt Transfer For" and not "Sent to Greeting For".

Finally, if it's still happening, it could be a permissions issue. Make sure the COS has a Transfer Restriction Table that allows transfers to that extension.

Thanks so much HmmG3! That works like a charm!
