We are in the process of replacing the Nortel 81C with CUCM and Unity (CUC). Does anyone have any information on this type of configuration?

Can you be a little more specific about the information you are looking for?

We are doing the same. QSIG PRI between Nortel and Cisco.
What info are you looking for ?

Bascially, how to configure the Nortel and Unity to work together. I would assume that it would work similar but not quite like call pilot. Message retrieval, MWI on Nortel sets, how should the PRI's be configured, etc...

To get Unity to do MWI to your Nortel phones, you will need a PIMG unit to interface the Nortel phones to Unity. It takes digital ports on the Nortel and uses them as voice mail ports.

If we are talking Unity, I do not know. If we are talking Unity Connection, then it is able to turn on the Nortel message lights across the SIP PRI. It doesn't take any extra hardware

Yes, I will be using Unity Connection, however we are not using SIP. The Nortel is an 81C and CUCM/UCM is 8.x

I'm sorry, I had another conversation going on...
What I meant to say was that Cisco 8.5, Nortel 81C 5.0....
connected together by a QSIG PRI (not SIP) turns on the Nortel message lights just fine, without any additional hardware.

Thanks, How should the Nortel's TN and the Unity be configured? I just tried it. Placed a call to the extension, it rang 4 times then forwarded, but Unity didn't pick up.

Does the Unity number you are forwarding to answer if you dial it directly ? Because it really shouldn't be any different. For example...Nortel has 2222 CDP toward the QSIG PRI....2222 is the Unity number on the Cisco side...I put 2222 as the HUNT and the FDN on the Nortel phone TN... Have you tried TRAC the forwarded call to be sure you are headed to the Unity ? Can you forward the Nortel phone to a Cisco phone across the PRI ? These are just a couple things to look at.

I forwarded the phone to unity pilot number and it worked, but the MWI didn't come on the phone. Do I need to create another phone system in unity and port and turn on MWI.

And, do you have QMWI in the RCAP for the QSIG DCH on the Nortel side ?

Make sure the MWI is enabled on the mailbox itself (Edit>MWI). Make sure you have MWI enabled on the Unity ports. Can you turn a message light on for a Cisco phone ? I only have the one phone system built in Unity. This is just some stuff to check

Are the Unity Ports themselves able to dial to the Nortel phones? As the message light control follows the same routing as a call. Has your Nortel box ever been networked ? My Opt81 is networked to 3 Opt11, and when we added Unity Connections, the mwi worked straight out. We may need to start comparing apples to apples (or LD to LD)

We have a Nortel 81C, how can I check whether Integrated Messages is turn on/off on the system.
