We currently have a single Call Manager cluster, and have a Unity 4.0(5) server for Unified Messaging. The Unity server talks to an Exchange 2003 cluster.
We're in the process of upgrading to Unity 5, before upgrading Exchange 2003 to 2007.
During the upgrade process, we will have our existing Exchange 2003 cluster, but will add a new Exchange 2007 cluster and slowly migrate users mailboxes over, a few at a time. Once everyone is over we will decommission the Exchange 2003 cluster.
My question is, aside from licensing issues, would a single Unity 5 server be able to access both an Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 cluster at the same time ? Or is the better option to add an additional Unity 5 server into the equation, deploy digital networking between the two Unity boxes and keep Unity 4 dealing with Exchange 2003, and Unity 5 dealing with Exchange 2007, and then at the end of the migration just turn off the Unity 4 box ?
If the latter, can you run digital networking between a Unity 4 and Unity 5 box ?
Thanks
