Depending on your operating system, you can greater and lesser degress of damage to your OS as a whole is you try and remove Internet Explorer, especially if you are running a later version. Please advise as to what OS your are running and what version of IE and we can advise you further towards a possible remedy. Also, how about more details than "doing strange things."
I am running I.E 6 that comes standard with XP Pro O.S is XP Pro.
Stranges things include unable to access secure pages, unable to use Windows update features, change the home page settings and it reverts back to previous home page,
like carrr posted, watch what you're doing. even while following that link from microsoft.
also, do the following: check the time on you comuter (secure sites issue) go to control panel and act like you are uninstalling IE 6.0 and click "repair" when asked what to do at the begining. then go to internet options and advanced tab click "restore defaults" then security tab and click "default level" click apply then ok.
you may also want to download "spybot" or "adaware" and check for unwanted programs that would cause this.
Don't pass over interNETech's first suggestion. Before you invest much time, make absolutely sure your time and date are set correctly on your machine.
