How do I find the Unique ID of the summary task header.
For Example:
Task 1 UID 1
Task 1_1 UID 2
Task 1_2 UID 3
Task2 UID 4
Task 2_1 UID 5
Task 2_2 UID 6

So if I am on Task 2_2 for example, the unique ID of its summary record would be 4.

I can find predecessor and successor ID but not the ID of the summary task for any task.

Cheers
David

Hi David,

Not sure what you need this for, but you can display the summary task name for a task in a Resource usage view -- but short of some programming to loop through each task and write the summary ID to a spare field, I don't know of any other method.

I am trying to export the Gannt chart to an Excel spreadsheet then import it into another application. By doing this regularly, I can synchronise the start / end dates of each task in the other financial application with MS project as it changes.

I am trying to preservee the parent child relationship in this package so I need to know what is the parent (summary item) of each task.

Cheers

Hi David,

Short of writing code to loop through each task, I don't know of an out of the box method. If you've some skill at VBA, you might get some guidance by posting to the Microsoft Forum for Project Programming and Customization at:

You may also find some sample code listed there to help you start creating the loop structure.
