So here's the situation. I am responsible for maintaining a testing lab here and I am using a boot manager to allow for multiple installs of Windows 2000/XP. The boot manager has been installed on several machines of the same type to minimize maintenance time. Now, each image on contains a default computer name that will need to be changed. When two images on a machine have the same name and are in a domain, the OS on the active partition will cause the OS on the inactive partition to be denied access to the domain.
Also, I am using Sysprep to setup the machines to reduce the time it takes to get a computer up and running. Sysprep does allow users to either pre-define or randomize a computer name/account to be added to the domain. However I am really need a better solution that allows me to generate the exact machine name I want. Does anyone have any ideas?
TIA
