Unique Filenames with CFFile ??

Can somebody give me an idea of how to write out a unique file name using CF File that increments by one each time I write the file?

I'd rather not use a database to keep tabs of the filenames. I see that the CFFile Upload allows this with a Name Conflict attibute. But I'm just doing a "write".

Maybe something like using CF Directory "list"..... ???

I would recommend using the database and simply setting a primary key, so that the files are automatically assigned a number.
