Hi!
I`d like to uninstall my windows me and go back to windows 98 (When I installed the windows me, I didnt save my win 98 files) , and I want to save my setting (the registry and Deskop), is there a way to do it? or I`ll need to format my HD (backup my data) and install everything again..

Any suggestions???

Personal opinion here, format the drive and reload from scratch. When it comes to troubleshooting problems there won't be another wrench in the system (so to speak), you'll only have to worry about W98 troubleshooting. It seems to me that generally when you upgrade or load over a different operating system there is always something that doesn't quite make it for some reason. Just a personal opinion though. If you are primarily worried about your desktop settings, just make them again once the OS is installed. Trying to mix the two registrys may not work that great either....

Try a multi-booting hard drive host adapter - this was a featured product at Comdex 2000. Any OS - incl. Linux can be booted at will by choosing one of several hard drives with their respective OS's installed on them.

Also, see Partition Magic, catch a presentation in your area by Gene Barlow - long time IBM guy, now a rep for PowerQuest, .

Gene shows how multi-boot works best using Part. Magic.

Use Drive Image to back up your entire drive prior to doing any experiments.

You can use a removable drive tray - avail at Fry's Electronics and elsewhere, for each drive as another way.

I had to do this on an HP Pavilion as well. Best method is reload desired OS by scratch. No artifacts will be left to cause future trouble. Also IE 5.5 works well on Win ME on a clean install.
