I have a McAfee installation which didn't work and I tried uninstalling it. The uninstall program didn't work so I manually deleted the program folders and any reference to McAfee I could find in the registry.

Now when I try to install the product I get an error "The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Please contact support personnel"

Any ideas?

I would try the VirusScan/NetShield removal tool.
It's a small superdat package it wipes out all the reg keys allowing you to reinstall the product.
Contact NAI support for it.

Hi,

In case you can't get the removal tool from NAI you can also try this.

Backup you registry.

Download Microsoft CleanUp utility, install it, the open a command prompt window, goto MS cleanup Utility directory (C:\Program Files\...)and run msizap(check documentation for further info) with VirusScan 4.5.1 msi string: {87AEFD84-BC0D-11D4-B885-00508B022A51}

This will clean from your registry all VS 4.5.1 entries.

I hope this could help.

To Clean VS 4.5.1 use the vszap.exe tool from NAI, this works well.
