I have 2 hard drives and 1 of them contains Linux and the other contains Windows 2000. I would like to uninstall Linux, delete the partitions, and be able to use it for overflow storage with FAT32. I tried using diskpart(?) from the 2k cdrom but I couldn't get it to work. I had it so 2k had the drive in My Computer but I wasn't able to format it. Any help would be appreciated.

Partion magic will allow you to delete the current partions and then you can redo them how ever you want.

You should be able to use 2k's disk management (run diskmgmt.msc in 2k - with linux drive connected of course!). This should let you remove linux partition(s) and create/format new fat32/ntfs ones. Drive should not appear in My Computer until you do this - so am a bit confused.

If this doesn't work, you could boot from win98 boot floppy with just Linux drive connected, and use fdisk to remove partition(s) - should appear as non-dos. Or start Linux install - Linux distributions generally have partitioning tools which let you remove partitions - just abandon install when you've removed them.

PS. Did you run diskpart from Recovery Console?

If none of this works - suggest you have a disk problem (get drive manufacturer's utility to check drive - may include a 'binary zero-fill' option).

Thank you all very much for your help. Everything went great and I now have plenty of free room!
