My IE6 pops up unwanted home pages for
Cyber Finder and a few other sites.
I deleted these cookies and thought I'd
solved it but they're back again!
I have Norton InternetSecurity running but it
doesn't show any intrusions and I ran
IE's 'fix' utility and that did nothing
either. I managed to download Opera and it
works fine.
How do I uninstall IE? The Control Panel
Add/Remove doesn't do it - IE gives me
3 choices none of which are uninstall.

Are you saying your homepage is being changed? Have you run Ad-aware? If not do so and see if it finds some spyware/adware.

Run a virus scan too. There are some annoying viruses that'll change your homepage.

If removing what Ad-aware finds doesn't fix the problem and if you have win95, 98, or ME download Startlog.com into a folder then doubleclick on it and run it. It'll create 2 text files on your desktop. Copy and paste the results of just Startlog (not the stubpaths file) to your reply here. It may shed some light on your problem.

Also, in msconfig (start--run--msconfig--startup tab) do you see a line that looks something like this that refers to a radxxx.tmp file where xxx would be random letters/numbers:?

C:\Windows\regedit.exe /s C:\Windows\System\radD2C4B.tmp

Thank you for all the suggestions:
AdAware was operating when this first started
to happen. I've run a full virus scan using Norton. System restore says it can't for 3 different dates, after which I stopped trying
to use it.

What happens is that IE6 comes up showing my
home page (Google). Then when I ask for
a search or a Favorites' site the other sites' opening pages pop up - Cyberfold, etc., etc.. They're operating sites but not anything I've ever asked for or used.

My main question is HOW DO I UNISTALL IE6 AND ANY EARLIER VERSIONS FROM MY COMPUTER?

"AdAware was operating when this first started"

Ad-aware doesn't run automatically. You have to manually cleanse spyware by manually running Ad-aware. Also you have to update Ad-aware just like you do anti-virus software. It has a separate update utility.

I don't think uninstalling IE will help, you've got to purge the spyware. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [idea]

Thank you! I've done that.
I repeat:

My main question is HOW DO I UNISTALL IE6
AND ANY EARLIER VERSIONS FROM MY COMPUTER?

Thanks to you all my problem is solved!
I 'eradicated' IE6 and then reloaded a
clean version. Then after resetting some
email connections I got everything working
again.
I still don't know how 4 seemingly legitimate
sites became automatic pop ups in my IE6 and
kept proliferating on every search/click through.
Norton and AdAware didn't find them...

Norton and AdAware does not catch changes in IE made by a Javascript which can execute when you go to certain sites or from SPAM that is opened when embedded in the HTML code. joegz
