Hello. I installed the XP Client v 4.82 on a XP Home Edition PC. Is there a clean way to uninstall it? Thanks.

Angela,

Is there a "My Network Places" in the Windows XP home addition? Since I only have the Professional addition I don't know much about the home addition....I know that Novell is not supporting Windows XP home additon for their client.

No, there is not a "My Network Places" :-( Unfortunately, I read that Novell is not supporting the client for the Home Edition AFTER I installed it....

Angela,

The people that I'm talking to say there is a "My Network Places" located on the Start Menu. If you click on "Start" to open the menu up, you should be able to "Right Click" on "My Network Places" and choose Properties. Under Properties, you should be able to remove the Novell Client of the Network connection. Please keep in mind I don't deal with the Home addition so if you click on Start and there is no My Network Places there I will have to take you at your word. Heck right now I'm taking the word of everyone around me so I feel like the "Middle Man" on this...

Let me know what the status is on this. I am searching the web for information but there's not much information to gain on the Windows XP Home Addition.....

Sorry, I am not at the PC but I am asking this home user to "really have a good look" around for it and she is saying it is not there. Thanks.

Okay, I will take a look around on the internet to see if I can find anything for you..

Angela,

Take a look at this TID that I found at Novell. It might assist you in removing the client using the setup program....of course I think you're going to have to visit the system, I wouldn't expect an end user to have the ability to do this....

Please, update this thread so I know if this worked or not. I'll have to keep note of this one....

David,

Hi. Thanks so much for all of your help so far. I've got the PC with me now. I used a utility to restore the system back to the way it was the day I gave it to her and guess what? I now have a My Network Places. I'm looking into the TID you recommmended in the previous post now but I figured I would mention the existence of My Network Places as I am assuming that removing it from here will be easier??? Hopefully.... Let me know. Thanks.

Angela

David,

We got it uninstalled. We had to create a new connection then right click the connection, select Properties, then select the Network tab. The client was listed here. We highlighted it then clicked uninstall. FYI, I tried the unattend.txt suggestion and it acted like it was working but it didn't. Thanks.

Sorry I didn't get back with you right away, had so out of the office work to do. Glad to see you got your system back up and operating. :) david e
