A simple one: Installing Indesign CS4 and Photoshop Elements 6 did not automatically uninstall ealier versions. Can I safely uninstall them without endangering any files necessary for the newer versions? (I've been using the newer versions for quite a while.)

...new software has all the components needed for that version, therefore old versions don't use components installed by newer versions...

There may be a reason to hang on to old versions of InDesign...

If you are collaborating with another that requires a file in a previous format, you can export INX from your current version, open in the previous version, verify everything translated well, and finally save out an INDD file for your co-worker.

Hanging on to old versions really only applies to InDesign. Photoshop does not have much difference in file versions so you can take the old Photoshop off your system.
