Uninstall MSDE uninstalls SQL Server 6.5?

When I installed my evaluation copy of CE8 Pro, MSDE installed perfectly. That is, it created the C:\MSSQL7 directory and my SQL Server 6.5 still used the existing C:\MSSQL directory.

When I uninstalled CE8 Pro and MSDE, however, it deleted my C:\MSSQL directory.

Anybody else have this problem?
