Hello

I do not have the full facts on this one, but apparently a installation of IE5.5 from CD failed at around 16% - the computer froze and had to be hard reset.

After re-booting When trying to start IE a message comes up saying "A previous installation was not completed" or something like that, we can not re-start the install from the disk.

So my questions are

1) how can I get this failed install to complete
2) if that is not possible how can I un-pick Internet Explorer from Windows and start again

Thanks

Graham

What operating system are you using?

gjdf1,

Try deleting the c:\windows\wininit.ini file and remove any entries (other than the (Default) entry) under these registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

When the error message is gone, try the install again. Truthfully, I'd never choose a CD install.
