Uninstall all of IE6

I have been trying to uninstall IE 6 off a PC. After I uninstall it I check to see what version it is and it says 5.5, but when I first open it, it says 6. Plus when you go into IE options there is a button to delete cookies which should not be there if it is 5.5. I have gone into the folder and removed all 6.0 items and also gone into regedit and removed any traces of 6.0 and still can't get it to be completly removed. HELP

go to microsoft support website for IE ... you get get a list of all IE 6 files ... you probably left a few on system
