Unified Communicator Express fits requirements. Not needing a server is particularly attractive, but the system is a 3300 MXe running on Release 7.1, and the phones are 5224.
Basic requirement is the click to dial from MS Outlook. Not having to purchase an application server was considered a plus, especially since minimizing cost is an issue. Only a few users to begin with.
Wouldn't the 5224's pose an issue as well, even if the Release level of the 3300 was okay?
UC Express looks like it will only operate with 53XX phones.
This includes the newer 5312 and 5324 sets according to the data sheet.
Also requires 9.0 ur2 on the 3300...

You can't believe anything you read... unless of course it's this.
The actual levels required according to the current release notes are as Canuckvoip states. Don't ask me why the course docs and the release notes are different.
UC Express is supported with the 5312, 5324, 5330 and 5340 IP sets.
Unified Communicator Express 2.0 is supported only on 3300 ICP Release 9.0 UR2 or higher.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.
Thanks for the input. I posted the question after having looked at the UCE requirements - was hoping for some miracle, but will just have to bite a bullet instead.
YA 3.09 (Free version) works to dial from outlook without even having the YA client loaded.
Simply install YA3.09 (free) on each desktop or laptop, run it once (you'll need to give it the IP address of your 3300)and then delete it. Guess what, it leave behind the TAPI drivers which is all you need to dial from outlook. Voila!
Though I no longer recall the versions of 3300 S/W we originally had, YA3.09 came out in 2006. There was also a Knowledge Base article which I still have explaining how to dial from outlook with YA.
We're still using it with 9.0 UR2 - It works with every type of set including TDM instruments. (Tested with SS4025 and SS4150). Their peripheral nodes need only be connected to the 3300 via a dual FIM module (and of course programmed on the 3300).
It is not necessary to delete YA, but you certainly can and thereafter continue to have Dial From Outlook capability.
I had finished downloading YA 3.0.9 from CMAC1 just before you put up the MiTSP download, but I realized that since both provide the TAPI drivers, MiTSP is the easier way to go, and that's what we'll use.
Again, thanks for the help. It was very much appreciated.
But still you've got to love an uninstall routine that leaves a valuable and useful tool in it's wake. It's like a gift that keeps on giving ;-)
I'm equally sure Mitel still 'rues the day' they ever released that priceless little gem to free distribution. It has to have saved us close to $10,000 over the past 3 years.
- unlimited size personal contact list (limited only by disk space) - my users love it
- transparent integration with Outlook (dial from Outlook)
- Call History (last 20 incoming, outgoing or missed)
- Incoming call pop-up with CallerID display + Hold, Transf/Conf & hangup
- supports every current instrument that the 3300 supports, (possibly even ONS & SIP, tho I have not tried those)
- Even works with multicall (some limitation)
- Yup, works with Teleworker too!!
- doesn't seem to conflict with anything
- and the ultimate 'Piece de resistance', no stinking server required
I was privileged to meet the program's author, Graeme Innes at a Mitel shindig several years ago and bought a few rounds to show my appreciation
The trick may be in finding it. (YA Lite version 3.09) Mitel has taken it off their web site long ago. I have it, but about a year ago was politely asked (by someone I wish to remain on good terms with) not to post links to it or otherwise make it widely available. Of course that wouldn't prevent someone else from sharing. The original load includes Documentation. If you happen to find it, there's a couple of pointers in the FAQ section for this group that you may find informative.
