In the last week two users have complained (valid) of the same problem/symptoms - one minute everything is fine, the next they get "read-only access" errors when trying to get files they have been creating / using all along. Other users within same Netware can access the files; admin can, but that user cannot. Both users are very credible and I can see it happening but cannot explain it. With the one user last week, it just healed itself - we didn't find a fix. The second user happened today and a number of reboots didn't help.

This sounds a bit like a connection problem, but the user can browse the network, Groupwise email works fine; however, files are inaccessible and cannot print (emails).

Help!! gillis

Hello gillis ~

I've seen this when a new version of a live-update has taken place with local/desktop antivirus software. For someone reason the scan can make all files appear that way or only a select few - but usually ones within the network appear to be affected.

Are your users running Norton? If so, under Config--> Real Time scans, remove the X near the "Network Drives."

Good Luck.
