Hi all

We actually have on a Citrix Farm (4 Server, Shared Application) an issue with an Application (Visual Basic, Microsoft Access linked tables to SQL Server 2000).
- We start the application an we minimize it
- We start to work with different other applications
- After a while, we maximize the first application

From this point on, we have immense performance problems (the activation of a icon on the menubar will take approx. 30 seconds). It seems, that the applications is still "half" in the backround and is no more coming back to foreground...

If the ICA session is disconnected and we start the application once again the problem is solved for a while. Also booting the citrix farm will solve the problem for a while. All Servers (Citrix Farm, SQL Server) are not really busy.

Does anybody have an idea?

Thanks for all your input.

Is there probably an influence while having the system properties of the server are set to (Advanced / Performance Options) Optimize performance for "Applications"?

Thanks for your input.

Phil

Hi,

You should have the system set to "Maximise Data Throughput for Network applications"

Your option is set for best performance when running applications from the console itself.

If you have issues, have you watched it through Task Manager and seen it jump up then down when you alter the settings. Also, you may want to use Sysmon and Filemon.

Cheers,
Carl.
