Unexpected shutdowns

I've got an NT4.0 server (SP5) that has been giving me a little grief. From time to time, usually about once a month or so, but lately twice in 24 hours, it just shuts down and re-boots itself.

The event log shows the following:

Event ID 6008
The previous system shutdown at (time) on (date) was
unexpected.

I found a Microsoft doc in TechNet (doc# Q236949) saying this is fixed in SP6, and that it's caused by a fix released in SP4. I'm not ready to goto SP6 yet, has anyone seen this and have a solution? Monkeylizard

This problem could be hard-ware related problem... Might be Processor HOT Sync..... This is something happend to me before after changing processor my problem was solved.

I may be wrong in my opinion , but something you might want to consider in troubleshooting....

Just out of curiosity, what is your hewsitation for Service Pack 6? SP5 was buggy, we didn't hesitate to upgrade to SP6A.
