Does ver2.0j(OEM) of Backup Exec work on Windows98SE using a Sony SuperStation Internal Tape Drive QIC3020? It worked fine on my Windows95 platform. Ever since I converted to this Windows98SE platform, I have been unable to perform backups. I start the backups OK, but after a few seconds, I receive an error message "An error occurred while writing the backup data. Unexpected Media Removal detected 08-14-23-02-0000".

The backup is being performed of a disk drive whose contents were disk-copied from another drive. Could this have any bearing on the problem?

After contacting superstation@techsupport.sony.com, I realized that I had changed the configuration of my IDE connections.

This problem arose because I connected my SuperStation Tape Drive as a slave on my primary IDE connection. Techsupport suggested that I put my Superstation on the secondary IDE connection. I tried it, and the problem was solved.

Techsupport confirmed that version 2.0j(OEM) of Backup Exec does work on Windows98 even though there is no mention of this platform in their manual. Indeed, after making the above changes, Backup Exec is running my Superstation just fine on my Windows98SE system.
