If this is not the right forum, please let me know.
We use an application that has a Paradox database. We recently moved the application with the help of their tech support to another server. The app works fine.
I have an Access database that has been linked to several tables for about a year; it basically has some macros that combine data from the Paradox based app with a couple other data sources then imports the whole thing into MS SQL server. I changed the links to point to the new location.
As soon as we moved the database I started getting this error intermittently when I ran my macros:
Unexpected error from external database driver (11270)
I should also note that this is the error that I got using access 2003, if I try to run the macro in Access 2007 it tells me that I have been disconnected from the network.
The application's tech support told me that it was a MS access issue, but every search I've done on this error has led me to a discussion of Paradox lock files.
The link never works when there is someone connected to the application. It sometimes works when no one is connected, which makes me think it really is a lock file issue.
Thing is, I have no idea where to look for this lock file, and if I find it, and no one is in the database, is it OK for me to delete it? Does Paradox have a lock file for each table or am I just looking for one file?
Can someone tell me where the lock files usually are and what their extension is so that I can at least verify that they are their when the problem occurs?
Thank you very much for your help.
