i run a 486dx4 100mhz with windows 95 and a us robotics 56K modem. my computer will dial up fine but when it trys to verify my user n password it takes 30 seconds and disconnects. It is not my password because i have another computer which connects to the same service and it isn't the service becase it does it for 5 of the isps i have. Could it be my tc/ip? please help!

First double-click on MY COMPUTER, then double-click on DIAL-UP NETWORKING. Once in DUN, find your ISP's icon. Right-click and select properties. Now you should be on the General Tab, click configure at the bottom. Click on the connection tab, find "Cancel the call if not connected in" and change it to 120. Then click OK. This will bring you back to the General Tab. Now click on Server Types Tab. Now make sure the only thing that is checked are "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP" at the bottom. Everything else should not be checked, if it is, uncheck it. Then click OK. Now attempt connection to your ISP. if this does not help, please write back or e-mail me.
