Undocked User

I have an undocked version of GM 6.0 setup on a laptop in my office. I would like to be able to work off-line, using my server based contact set (DBF by the way) and when back in the office, run GM and have it synch to the server with my changes. I can't seem to figure this out. I install GM locally, off the network and gave it a U type licence. When I try to attach to the server DB, it works fine but it gives me errors when I try to open, for instance...an email. I guess I did something wrong. Can someone help? Do I need to copy the entire DB from the serve to my laptop or can I simply open it and work normally...docked and undocked?

If anyone can...can you explain the steps needed to accomplish this?

Hi

Install a blank GM on your laptop using the U licence you created.

Sync the customisations to the laptop first then the data, I would do this manually rather than use GoldSync.

Copy the *.users files and your username.ini file to the laptop.

You should then be able to set up a profile for ongoing sync.

Thanks for the info. Let me see if I get this right...

Now I did the install already and used the U licence. Now...what do you mean by sync'ng the customizations? Do I sync the data by copying it over over synching it directly from the empty "local" database? Sorry if I sound a bit brain dead today...lot's of snow here.
