I have a couple of Procurve switches that I want to add a fiber SX transciever too to. My question is this. Does fiber send and recieve data over the same wire or is it recieve on one wire and send over the other. The transciever that is for the Procurve has both RX/TX jacks, so I'm guessin that it does do it over the same wire.

Also, other connects such as LC have one jack on their transciever, does that mean its just sends data but not recieve?

Thanks alot everyone

One fiber is TX another is RX and you swap so the TX from one switch goes to the RX of the next.

Ok one quick qestion on fiber. On the Cisco switches they use a MTRJ connector. The 2950 has two ports for this. Is one Rx and the other Tx. Or does one port carry both Rx and Tx? Thanks for the help everyone

Thanks for the doc. From what I see its that the connector has both RX and TX and plug into one port. Am I right in saying that on one end of the cable I should have RX/TX and at the other end of the cable have TX/RX so it plugs into the port correctly?
