I have a motherboard which supports 200Mhz FSB for Socket A processors.

I currently run a Duron 800 and am looking to upgrade but I don't want to change MB's memory etc right now.

Can I run an Athlon XP with a higher rated FSB on my motherboard? Does it juts run slower than designed, or is the slower FSB speed going to cause problems?

Thanks

Whoops, should have said, my MB is a Gigabytye G7ZXR(rev2)

I think you can. This is a KT133A chipset motherboard the jumpers on the board were for 100 and 133 Mhz. 133 X 2 = 266. I would check the BIOS revisions for this motherobard and see how fast a processor it can take. Some Asus motherboards like the A7V266-E originally said up to 1.4 Athlon, but with a BIOS Flash they can support up to a Athlon XP2400+.

The motherboard designation I looked at was GA-7ZXR (Rev 2)
on the Gigabyte website. You can just download the manual and take a look at it. It was listed in the Other section.
