I have an application that needs to run on several 1.2 Ghz processor machines for licensing reasons. In the Compaq world, this means G1s which are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

However, I would like to take advantage of iLo.

Is there a way to underclock current hardware to 1.2Ghz?

NOTE: I am not interested in violating my license, so it should perform, and report as a 1.2Ghz.

never seen an option - and i doubt it to be truthful - even getting below 2.8 is hard

maybe easier phoning hp tech support and asking them - pre sales tech supp will pend over backwards when you are going to buy something

I'm not aware of any way to accomplish this. I've never been asked a question like this before... in fact I've never even heard of a piece of software that requires a specific CPU speed for licensing purposes!

AdmanOK, apparently Oracle used to. Dave, have you spoken to the vendor of your application regarding the issue?

Yes, and the driver for this is $. To upgrade our 1.2Ghz license to a 2.4Ghz license costs in excess of $50,000.

Cheaper to have several G1s laying around, but, they are harder to find, and for an application of this importance, I would really like to use the iLO.
