we've just been aproached to install some of AMP's new under carpet cable, anyone have any experience with this stuff good or bad? thanx

phoneguy422..i have used it and it works great.if you can
keep out of heavy traffic areas.

try to put it between the pad and the carpet , helps to protect it .

also labor saving devices makes a fish tape just for under carpet , works great . one of those things I carry in the truck and the couple times a year I need it makes it worth while

I have had very good luck fishing cable under carpet with a piece of 1/2" metal banding from a shipping crate as a fish tape. The extra width makes it easier to steer.

Our company does trade shows and at least 50% of the time there is some screwup where another cable is needed under the carpet at the last minute.

Interesting - Does the manufacturer recommend going between the pad and carpet? Seems like that would cause more flexing than if it was on the floor with both the padding and the carpet to protect it.

i've heard there is a spray on adhesive, and a duct tape to secure it to the concrete

For one line, it must be OK. But I'd think that two or more (isn't it 4-pr?) would get X-talk being as how it's straight, flat conductors with no twist. Maybe put line 1 on BL/W and the next on BR/W to separate...? After that, it's anyone's guess as to performace. Plus it's EXPEN$IVE, I understand.

exverizon...they make flat cable with all twist you need
its been on the market for about 15 years.
