I have a user that when sending E-mails is getting the following error message.
"Unable to deliver the message due to a communication failure.
550 Dialups/Open Relays" (shown at end of detail error message.
Any help on this issue will be truly appreciated

550 usually refers to a Relay Denied issue. Such would be the case if the client is not using the correct outgoing smtp server for the network they are dialied in to or connected.

For instance if I was using Earthlink as my ISP but dialed into the AT&T network but still trying to use the earthlink outgoing smtp server this would cause a relay error.

However without knowing more if this is a dial up to an ISP or corporate network I can't say for certain on your particular issue.

Joe. Thank you on your response. The user is connected to the LAN in which Exchange Server 5.5 is installed on our Corporation.
Thanks again

When exactly does the error occur? By this I am wondering if the client is able to send mail to anyone internally on your network such as from the GAL? Or is the client only getting the error when sending to an external address from either a contact or internet e-mail address from their PAB?

Does she have any other mail components configured (i.e Internet Mail, Microsoft Mail) in Outlook other than Microsoft Exchange Server?

It may help to post the entire error message that is being received. joegz
