I was trying to send an e-mail and got this undeliverable message.

This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.

What does this mean?

Thanks!

Is any part of the message in fact not legible? If so, what part? If any part is not legible, what does it look like?

You may find more information about MIME at but as far as I know, Outlook can definitely read MIME messages. From my understanding, most messages are in fact transmitted using MIME encoding. If you look at the full headers of most email messages, you'll see MIME information in them.

The client that I'm trying to send messages to will not accept messgaes in MIME format. Is there a way to disable sending messages in this format?

There is a way of changing the format of the email between plain-text or html if that is any help to you.

When you compose a message, select format and send as plain text.

Whether this will affect the MIME encoding or not I'm not sure.

What email client is at the other end?

Unfortunately, I don't know what client the recepient is using.

I will try to change to plain text.
