Any ideas why that might be? This one particular user got 15 undeliverable bouncebacks for mail that was legitimately sent. However, some of the mail dated all the way back to July 27th, 2007. The mail was all returned to him on September 13th, 2007 @ 6:08PM.
The bounceback states:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: Emailing: <Subject>
Sent: 10/09/2007 4:04 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'<recipient e-mail address>' on 13/09/2007 6:08 PM
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
<server.name #4.0.0 smtp;451 Requested action aborted: local error in processing>
I have, of course, removed e-mail addresses, subject, and my server name. Any thoughts on why there appeared to be a queue? All of these e-mails that bounced were destined to one domain (multiple recipients), but stretched over such a large period I question it. They did, admittedly, upgrade their e-mail system in some form or fashion recently, but I was told that that took place over the past week.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I'm not sure what to tell my user(s). (And yes, this happened to a few people, but all e-mails were destined to that one domain). And no, not all e-mails were bounced back to us either. That's what makes it so strange.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions,
Cold Flame
