undelete/data recovery help on imac 10.4

my boss brings me his mac from home... i know what I'm doing on windows PC's and have done this for him on his work PC... but I'm a semi novice on mac OS X (10.4) and don't know what good software to use to attempt this.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

You can also go to Versiontracker.com and search "data recovery" under the OSX section. You'll see additional apps there. Data Rescue got pretty good reviews on that page.
