I was updating my drivers for Lexmark 7600 printer on a Win 7 machine. It said it needed Windows net 2.0. It tried to load it and failed. Now ever time I reboot the splash screen comes up to load windows net 2.0. How do I clear out this program so the splash screen does no keep coming up.

Have you looked at the MsConfig tool to see if there is any Startup entry?

This program might delve a bit deeper than MsConfig.

kjv1611,

Do you see this comment via your first link?

"Thank you for your interest in Fix it Center. Our goal was to have an equal number of beta users running Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. The Windows 7 goal has now been met and the Fix it Center Beta for Windows 7 users is now officially closed. If you are running Windows XP or Windows Vista you may continue to participate in the Fix it Center Beta."

Sure didn't. Oh well. And actually, I tried out one piece of it the other day with an issue I was having (I forget what it was now), and was better off just fixing it myself manually, that program sadly didn't seem to "fix" anything.

Use autoruns as suggested and pay attention to the Logon tab HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Delete temp files %LocalAppData%\Temp or just %temp%

delete prefetch files %systemroot%\Prefetch
