UNC being changed to Network Drive

We have W2003 servers and XP-Pro workstations. I have noticed that when the workstations are inactive for a period of time and are disconnected by the server, the explorer shows the UNC as Disconnected Network Drive. When the user clicks on the drive it is reconnected without a problem, but the UNC is changed to Network Drive rather than the original name that I gave it when I mapped the drive.

Why is the UNC being changed to "Network Drive"?
