unauthorized program sending e-mail 1

Hi All-

Something is sending a malfored email every few seconds on a XP machine the is our file server. What can I do to identify the program or process sending the email?

I have tried several scanners to hunt down trojans, but have not found the culprit.

All advice welcomed!

check the Services running and watch for a spike in programs running and see if you can zero in on it.

You might use TCPView to see what process is using those newtork resources:

The offending program was Trend Micro sending a malformed email message every few seconds or so. It was easy to spot with TCPView.
