I have a 'dumb' client (video web server) on my LAN that I need to send emails but its user interface doesn't allow me to enter authentication details - it simply takes the IP address of an SMTP server and sends formatted emails to that service.
Since most mail services require authentication, I have been trying to route emails from this 'dumb' client via the IIS default SMTP server under Windows XP on a different networked client machine. But I can't seem to enter the authentication details in IIS SMTP either !
Can anyone help ? My thoughts are 1) find an SMTP service that doesn't require authentication and just point the client at that or 2) try to get authenticated access through IIS
