Is there a way to create a database file that will grab a unique, user selected computer name based on the MAC address of a particular computer? Because if I could get the computer name to be assigned automagically (not random, but specific names) then that would make things much simpler. I have heard that it CAN be done, but have never SEEN it done...Anybody know?? TIA!

If I can remember rightly, there are two programs on the Windows XP CD, in a the folder \SUPPORT\TOOLS\ there will be a DEPLOY.ZIP file there. Open that and you should find SYSPREP.exe and SETUPMGR.EXE using those programs you should be able to create an UNATTEND.TXT and UNATTEND.UDF files for doing unattended or remote installs. If you're doing more than 1 machine on a remote you will need the UNATTEND.UDF file as this will hold the names of the PC to be installed.

ADDITION...

I forgot to say that this is the same if you are using windows 2000 PPRO/SERVER, Windows XP HOME/PRO.

Sorry!? :)
