unattended backup asking for media name and/or if I want to initialize

Hi,

of course for unattended backups I want the system to select a unique media name and initialize the tape if needed.

and backup exec IS -supposed- to be NT server backup software...not a little rinky dink package for home desktop users.

so...where is the option to get BE to assign the name and to initialize as needed.

In BE 8.x, you can look in Options|Media OverWrite tab. Down at the bottom, there's an area for "Media Overwrite Default Label". It's just a counter, so it's not meaningful, but it will give you unique tape IDs.
