hello,

i am trying to find out the date when the operating system was built. i know on linux i can do uname -a and that will tell me but how do i do this on solaris 8. any ideas?

jim

try showrev and see if this is the info you're looking for.

mmmm
showrev give you the kernel creation date at the manufacter
you ask for installation date on your system??
i would try a 'pkginfo -l' of a very primitive package
mybe: pkgifo -l SUNWdat and look at the value of INSTDATE
:)
