I am running ArcServe 11 and I and trying to do a restore from some tapes that were backed up under ArcServe 9. I have no problems merging the tapes and restore kicks off fine. Then after about half of my data has been restored, I start getting errors in my Activity Log that say:

"Unable to write stream name. ID=4. EC=Sharing Violation."

After that my restore fails. I even tried putting the tapes in another library on a different server and I had the same problem. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have had some "stream" errors on V2000. They were avoided by restoring to the same server that was doing the restore. Something about writing a large file across the network. I don't know if this has anything to do with what you are seeing or not.

I do not run V11. But I can say, using V9 to restore tapes made from V2000 was hit or miss. Some would work, some would give "strange" errors. You might try setting up a temporary V9 server and try this restore again.

Good luck,
Debi
